Delivering Advanced Odor Solutions for Over 25 Years
Built to solve the odors others couldn’t
More than 30 years ago, our founders set out to solve a particularly difficult malodor problem: wastewater.
Wastewater produces a complex mixture of malodors, so we searched for a solution capable of addressing a broad spectrum of odors—including both acidic (e.g., hydrogen sulfide) and alkaline (e.g., ammonia) compounds—without simply covering them with a stronger fragrance. Given the proximity to drinking water, we also needed a safer, water-based solution that didn't require harsh solvents.
That challenge became the foundation for Odornet.
True odor neutralization
From the beginning, we've believed effective odor control means more than making a bad smell temporarily smell better.
Our formulations are designed to chemically neutralize odor compounds themselves. That's why they can work completely fragrance-free. We can add fragrance when a customer wants it, but our products don't depend on fragrance to work.
Over the decades, we've expanded our formulas to tackle an unusually broad range of malodors through neutralization, interception, counteraction and encapsulation—all while maintaining our commitment to water-based, eco-friendly formulations designed with people, pets and the environment in mind.
Case Study - Dominguez Channel
In the Fall of 2021 the South Coast Air Quality Management Division fielded 4,000 complaints from residents in multiple cities in LA county due to odors from the Dominguez Channel. Due to elevated levels of hydrogen sulfide, strong odors emanated throughout the community. The LA county public works department contacted the odor control experts at J&R Business Enterprises Inc. (d.b.a. Odornet). Located in New Jersey, J&R manufactures in the USA and sells Odornet brand of odor neutralizers that work by chemical neutralization to permanently remove a broad spectrum of malodors on contact. Odornet odor neutralizers are water-based and work fragrance-free with no solvents, no enzymes, and no bacteria to remove malodors, making it safe to use with people, pets, and the environment. Hydrogen sulfide measurements at the beginning of October showed significantly high levels of H2S, recorded in excess of 1,000 ppb. But with the use of Odornet in the month of November, significantly lower levels of H2S were recorded below allowed limits of 30 ppb.
